Even though the ensemble was formed by a group of friends to have some fun, there is a very strong educational element to Dragon Strings. Many of the band are instrumental teachers or in other areas of education and a couple of the main concepts are to educate ourselves with the new technologies available today and to show younger string players that it is cool to play the violin or cello. Also, by using all electric instruments, various effects and even an electric drum kit, we aim to provide audiences with a chance to hear a programme of music not necessarily associated with a string orchestra.
